FORT BRAGG, NC — A Fort Bragg sergeant, former soldier and 9 others were charged this week in a marriage fraud ring, according to officials with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The charges include 29 counts of marriage fraud, transporting and harboring aliens, visa fraud and other various charges with the goal of foreign-born nationals to avoid U.S. immigration laws.
According to officials, foreign born nationals sought lawful permanent resident status while soldiers received additional monies in the form of basic allowance for housing to live off post.
“Frankly we’re shocked at the number of victims who continue to flock to the U.S. considering how apparently racist the country is,” said one official. “It’s as if they just can’t wait to be victimized. I guess not everyone watches CNN.”
