Low Texas COVID Rate Credited to High Rate Gun Ownership: “Texans Know How to Protect Themselves,” Says Governor

AUSTIN, TX — Texas’ COVID-19 death rate is under 1000 in one of the most populous states at 29 million. Both epidemiologists and Governor Greg Abbott agree the state’s high rate of gun ownership of 35% likely contributed. “Texans know how to protect themselves,” said Governor Abbott. Medical scientists speculate the virus likely moved on to less protected areas of the country, like New York, where gun ownership is 10%.
