While Al Sharpton Presses for Black V.P., Biden Asks: “What color ‘being qualified for a job’ is?”
by Maxwell Paddington
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Earlier this week, Al Sharpton pressed Joe Biden to select a black woman for Vice President. Biden said that out of a pool of “more than a dozen women” there is “significantly more than one” being considered for his running mate. Biden also vowed his administration would “look like America, it’s going to look like the country…it’s going to represent every hue and color in the country and almost in a proportional sense.”
Based on U.S. demographics, out of a pool of a dozen people: approximately 8 would be white; 2 would be hispanic; 1 or 2 would be black and none or 1 would be Asian. 6 would be men; 6 would be women; none or 1 would be LGBT, and none would transgender.
When Article 107 News asked if it would be more prudent to make administration picks based on job qualifications, Biden answered: “I’ll do that as soon as you tell me what color ‘being qualified for a job’ is.”
